Sony Pictures Entertainment’s RIDEVU service to feature IMAX Enhanced movies with DTS:X sound in Mercedes-Benz Vehicles
At CES 2025, Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE), in collaboration with IMAX Corporation, Mercedes-Benz, and Xperi Inc., announced that RIDEVU, SPE’s in-car entertainment service, will introduce IMAX Enhanced content with DTS:X audio in select Mercedes-Benz vehicles later this summer. This service enhancement provides an immersive in-car entertainment experience, bringing IMAX Enhanced movies from SPE’s library into the car.
IMAX Enhanced is the exclusive way to enjoy IMAX’s signature picture and sound outside the theater. Sony Pictures library includes the largest catalog of IMAX Enhanced titles in the world, with fan-favorites such as ‘Venom: The Last Dance’, ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ and ‘Uncharted’. Through RIDEVU, drivers and passengers will be able to enjoy these titles and many others featuring IMAX’s expanded aspect ratio (EAR), IMAX’s proprietary DMR process and DTS:X sound, available in multiple dubbed languages.
CES attendees were able to get a special preview of the offering, which was demoed in a Mercedes-Benz E-Class in Xperi’s connected car booth. This new offering was well received by the press and left a strong impression on those who experienced it firsthand. Among them were the judges from eCoustics, who awarded IMAX Enhanced sound by DTS:X a ‘Best in Show’ award, stating, “We got to hear a demonstration of this new system at CES 2025 and were blown away by the sound”.
At CES, Jeff Jury, General Manager of Connected Car at Xperi, joined Joseph Perry, Executive Director of Automotive Streaming Entertainment at SPE, and David Stuffer, Head of Connected Services at Mercedes-Benz, for a discussion on the collaboration between these leading companies.
