Driving Digital Radio Forward: Xperi at WorldDAB Automotive 2025

At this year’s WorldDAB Automotive 2025 event in Madrid, Xperi took center stage to showcase how DTS AutoStage and AIM (All in Media) are shaping the future of in-car radio. In a compelling session titled “Driving digital radio forward: global trends and local impact,” Gereon Joachim of Xperi highlighted the pivotal role connected cars play in accelerating DAB+ adoption across Europe.

Over-the-air radio remains the most important thing,” Gereon emphasized, underscoring Xperi’s commitment to enhancing the in-car listening experience through hybrid radio technology. With DTS AutoStage now embedded in over 11 millions vehicles from 12 OEMs, the platform is delivering hundreds of billions of events back to vehicles—enriching radio with visuals, metadata, and real-time insights.

Gereon also shared how this data is transforming infrastructure planning and broadcaster strategy. “We believe radio should be free for broadcasters. It’s your content that needs to get in the car,” he stated, reinforcing Xperi’s vision of a sustainable, broadcaster-first ecosystem.

From heat maps of DAB+ listening in Madrid to deep dives into German and UK markets, the session offered a data-rich look at how hybrid radio is driving relevance and reach. As Joachim concluded, “We need to make sure radio stays on the level where it is—and we can only do that with good data and good content.
