Xperi at NAB Show 2025

This year’s NAB Show brought together 55,000 members of the global broadcaster community from 160 countries to explore the future of media and entertainment. As a longtime partner of the show, Xperi showcased its latest solutions in radio and automotive technology, celebrating two decades of broadcaster-centric innovation in the car.

Key Highlights

HD Radio Celebrates 20 Years in Cars

First introduced in BMWs in 2005, HD Radio has come a long way. This year marked 20 years of continuous innovation in digital radio, with HD Radio offering improved sound quality, more channels per station, and timely emergency alerts—all without subscription fees for consumers. Xperi celebrated HD Radio’s history with a timeline showcasing its remarkable growth, now reaching 115 million cars and 60% of new vehicles shipped in North America.

In addition, the Xperi booth featured two striking vehicles with HD Radio: a 2025 Harley-Davidson Road Glide and a 2025 Hyundai Genesis G70. The latter also showcased DTS AutoStage, our next-gen in-car media platform which complements HD Radio by delivering a content-first, visually rich radio experience.

Broadcaster Technologies for the Future

Broadcasters are at the heart of NAB and a core audience for our technologies. Xperi showcased several demos highlighting how our tools help broadcasters succeed in an increasingly competitive marketplace:

  • DTS AutoStage Broadcaster Portal: provides access to unique FM/HD Radio/DAB+ audience insights and analytics that can enhance content programming and listener engagement.
  • AIM Radio and AIM Player: brings radio, podcast, and video content to your users’ devices with apps for iOS, Android, cars, smart speakers, and connected TVs.
  • RAPID: manages and delivers your visual radio services across all platforms, enhancing content with licensed album artwork from TiVo.

These solutions work for broadcasters big and small. Joe D’Angelo, Xperi’s Senior Vice President of Broadcast Radio & Digital Audio, and George Cernat, Xperi’s Senior Director of Automotive Connected Media, delved into the possibilities at NAB’s Small and Medium Market Radio Forum.

Innovation and Recognition

A testament to our commitment to advancing radio technology, Xperi’s own Mike Raide and Jeff Baird, along with independent consultant Alan Jurison, won the NAB Best Paper Award at the NAB Broadcast Engineering and Information Technology Conference. Their innovative work, titled “Digital-Only Boosters for HD Radio Single-Frequency Networks”, introduces the first high-power digital-only booster using Gen4 HD Radio hardware—allowing transmission of a digital-only HD Radio signal without any traditional FM component. The paper explores potential uses, optimal implementation, and the effect on both analog and digital signal in real-world situations.

2025’s NAB Show proved that broadcast, media, and entertainment have a bright future ahead. Xperi continues to shape the future of broadcasting by providing solutions that help radio stations stand out to their audiences.
