CES 2023: Complete highlights and recap for DTS Consumer Electronics

The 2023 Consumer Electronics Show is in the books, and DTS had another standout performance. DTS Play-Fi, IMAX Enhanced and other DTS Tech won some big awards and announced some major news. Here are all the details.

DTS Play-Fi Wins Big

CES 2023 further cemented DTS Play-Fi’s reputation as the gold standard for wireless immersive audio. We improved upon our peerless technology with new features like gapless playback, support for 7.1.4 sound, and more, and the judges took note. Here’s the breakdown of what DTS Play-Fi won at CES 2023:

  • 2023 CES Innovation Award Honoree in the streaming category for wireless speakers
  • DTS Play-Fi Home Theater won an Omdia Innovations Award in the Home & Personal Entertainment (includes AR, VR & gaming) category
  • DTS Play-Fi Home Theater also won a Twice Picks Award 2023, which honors the best and most influential consumer technology at CES and selects winners based on innovation, quality, and their expected impact on the consumer electronic industry.

Additionally, CES was a chance to hear DTS Play-Fi come to life in award-winning hardware, like the Philips Fidelio line of FS1 speakers, the FW1 subwoofer, and the IMAX Enhanced certified FB1 soundbar.

An IMAX Enhanced CES

IMAX Enhanced® technology has been delivering a premium theatrical experience at home and beyond with IMAX signature picture and premium DTS audio. It’s relied on by CE manufacturers and content owners worldwide, and at CES 2023, we announced that we’ll be improving and expanding the IMAX Enhanced content this year.

Marvel fans can expect the heart-pounding addition of IMAX Signature Sound by DTS to IMAX Enhanced film titles from the Marvel Cinematic Universe on Disney+. This addition will allow fans to enjoy both the IMAX expanded aspect ratio and its signature high-fidelity audio across some of their favorite films, wherever they’re watching them.

Sony Pictures Entertainment has also announced a slate of titles they plan on releasing in the IMAX Enhanced format on the Sony Bravia Core streaming platform. Over the next few years, movie-lovers can expect to enjoy titles like Spider-Man™: Across the Spider-Verse, Gran Turismo, The Equalizer 3 and more, all in IMAX Enhanced.

And as IMAX Enhanced becomes more and more widespread, so does its compatible hardware. Last year, DTS expanded partnerships with TPVision (Philips), Vestel, LG, TCL, Sony, Hisense and HONOR.

DTS Powered Products @ CES

The legendary brand Nakamichi roared into CES debuting its new Nakamichi Dragon 21 channel Soundbar. The Dragon 21 is the world’s first 11.4.6 multi-channel, plug-and-play home surround sound system, and it features DTS:X Pro technology, quad subwoofers and omni-motion reference surrounds. eCoustics said it was “definitely the best soundbar-based system I heard at the 2023 CES.”

More good news on the immersive audio front: LG Electronics announced that DTS:X technology will be available in LG’s latest OLED and premium LCD TVs. This integration also provides backward compatibility to all current and legacy DTS and DTS:X AVR and sound bars.
