DTS Play-Fi Devices Now Feature Amazon Alexa Preferred Speaker Functionality

March 5, 2019

We are excited to announce DTS Play-Fi devices can now be designated as the Preferred Speaker for Alexa devices. Now active globally, the Preferred Speaker functionality gives users the convenience of selecting a DTS Play-Fi enabled device as their default music playback speaker system for their Echo, Echo Dot, Echo Spot, Echo Show or other Amazon Alexa device.

“We are excited to share this feature through the wide breadth of DTS Play-Fi powered devices,” said Dannie Lau, general manager, DTS Play-Fi. “With this new ability, customers worldwide now have a simpler way of playing their music on their preferred speakers throughout their Alexa smart home.”

Once a Preferred Speaker is set, users will have the convenience of using Alexa voice commands to play music without referring to the device by name. With voice commands like “Alexa, play top-40” on linked Amazon Smart Home devices, playback will begin on the associated DTS Play-Fi Speaker.

The Preferred Speaker functionality is available today on all 37 certified “Works with Alexa” DTS Play-Fi products, with more to be announced soon, including:
