Subaru Becomes the Latest Automotive Manufacturer to Make HD Radio Receivers a Standard Feature in its Entire Lineup of Vehicles
Columbia, Maryland – August 26, 2015 – iBiquity Digital Corporation, the developer of digital HD Radio Technology for AM and FM audio and data broadcasting, announced today that Subaru has made HD Radio receivers standard across all vehicles in the manufacturer’s lineup. HD Radio equipped cars are currently available at dealerships across the country.
“Subaru is a longstanding partner that has consistently adopted the latest HD Radio features and expanded availability across their vehicle lines” said Jeff Jury, Chief Operating Officer of iBiquity Digital. “We’ve worked closely with Subaru for a number of years and are excited to see them take this important step to bring the latest in digital broadcast technology to all of their loyal customers.”
The move by Subaru adds to a growing list of auto brands and manufacturers who have made HD Radio receivers standard across all vehicles including Bentley, BMW, Mercedes Benz, Mini, Rolls Royce, Scion, Tesla and Volvo. All major auto manufacturers now incorporate HD Radio receivers across more than 200 models of vehicles.
The HD Radio system is available across the U.S. and Mexico, with more than 2,300 digital stations converted, and over 1,700 HD2/HD3 digital only channels that broadcast fresh new content that can only be heard with an HD Radio receiver in a variety of formats that include Dance/Electronica, Bluegrass Country, Comedy, Local Music, Chill/Coffee Shop Music, South Asian, Talk, News, and Sports.
HD Radio Technology delivers a premium radio listening experience, all via local broadcasting and without any subscription fees. The patented technology provides crystal-clear, digital sound for a CD-quality experience, new digital-only channels and a growing list of features that include song title and artist name, “Artist Experience” which enables images with the audio content to be displayed on the radio screen, and subscription-free traffic and data information sent directly to a vehicle’s radio or navigation system.
