General Motors Extends Support For HD Radio Technology in New 2016 Chevrolet and GMC Trucks

Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra Are Among Four Additional Trucks Now Available with HD Radio Receivers

Columbia, Maryland – October 1, 2015 – iBiquity Digital Corporation, the developer of digital HD RadioTM Technology for AM and FM audio and data broadcasting, announced today that HD Radio Technology is now offered on four all-new General Motors pickups. 

The Chevrolet Silverado and Silverado HD offer HD Radio receivers on the eight-inch Chevrolet MyLink infotainment system, which is standard on the LT trim level and above. In addition, the GMC Sierra and Sierra HD offer HD Radio receivers on the eight-inch GMC IntelliLink infotainment system, which comes standard on the SLE trim level and above. 
General Motors is among the major automakers to supply the HD Radio Experience to their customers. These four truck models join the more than 200 vehicles available with factory-installed HD Radio receivers.

The HD Radio system is available across the U.S. and Mexico, with more than 2,300 digital stations converted. Additionally, more than 1,700 HD2/HD3 digital-only channels that broadcast fresh new content that can only be heard with an HD Radio receiver in a variety of formats that include Dance/Electronica, Bluegrass Country, Comedy, Local Music, Chill/Coffee Shop Music, South Asian, Talk, News, and Sports.

HD Radio Technology delivers a premium radio listening experience, all via local broadcasting and without any subscription fees. The patented technology provides crystal-clear, digital sound for a CD-quality experience, new digital-only channels and a growing list of features that include song title and artist name, “Artist Experience,” which enables images accompanying the audio content to be displayed on the radio screen, and subscription-free traffic and data information sent directly to a vehicle’s radio or navigation system.
