Columbia, Maryland – March 31, 2015 – iBiquity Digital Corporation, the developer of digital HD Radio Technology for AM and FM audio and data broadcasting, has announced that the 2015 BMW 2 Series Convertible is now at dealerships.  In addition to the 2 Series Convertible, the entire BMW vehicle line-up offers HD Radio receivers as standard equipment.  BMW was the first auto manufacturer to offer HD Radio Technology as a production feature on select 2006 models.

Jeff Jury, Chief Operating Officer of iBiquity Digital said, “BMW is a great partner and we are elated to be celebrating ten years of being a production feature in their vehicles.  We’ve enjoyed growing with the BMW brand and now HD Radio receivers are standard across the entire vehicle line-up.  Ten years ago, it started with BMW and now, all major automakers in the U.S. offer the HD Radio experience to their drivers.”

AM and FM radio is now digital.  The HD Radio Experience delivers the digital evolution of terrestrial radio to drivers: crystal-clear sound quality, song title and artist name; additional digital only local FM channels known as HD2s and HD3s; Artist Experience, which enables images that match the audio content to be displayed on the radio screen.  HD Radio Technology is subscription free broadcast radio.

The HD Radio system is available across the U.S. and Mexico, with more than 2,300 digital stations on-air, and over 1,550 HD2/HD3 digital only channels that broadcast fresh new content that can only be heard with an HD Radio receiver. A sampling of the formats on these extra channels, which vary in different markets around the country, include Dance/Electronica, Bluegrass Country, Comedy, Local Music, Chill/Coffee Shop Music, South Asian, Talk, News, and Sports, to name just a few.  Over 25 Million HD Radio receivers are now in use.
