Xperi at NAB Show 2024

Every year, tens of thousands of broadcast, media and entertainment professionals attend the NAB Show in Las Vegas looking for partners and products to help expand their reach and impact. The 2024 show was no different with over 90,000 attendees visiting the Las Vegas Convention Center, and Xperi was there to greet them with a full suite of groundbreaking innovations, products, and services.

DTS AutoStage and HD Radio Take Center Stage

The Xperi exhibit featured a trio of eye-catching vehicles equipped with innovative and immersive entertainment technology, including a Hyundai Sonata with DTS AutoStage, a BMW i7 with DTS AutoStage Video Service Powered by TiVo, and a BMW R18 motorcycle with HD Radio. DTS AutoStage has recently reached a footprint of over 7 million vehicles worldwide.

Joe D’Angelo, Xperi’s SVP of Global Radio and Digital Audio, and George Cernat, Sr. Director of Business Development for Broadcasting, also moderated a discussion about broadcaster needs called “Small and Medium Market Radio Forum Connected Car Roundtable”. Additionally, Joe walked through the DTS Broadcaster Portal with an industry panel and showcased how DTS AutoStage empowers broadcasters to optimize their content programming in the presentation “DTS AutoStage: Your Station, Your Content, Your Analytics.”

IMAX Enhanced Excitement

Xperi talent was on full display in events and activities surrounding IMAX Enhanced. IMAX used their exhibit space to host a product demo led by Sven Mevissen, Xperi’s Director of Product Management for Home and Media Solutions. Sven then joined Deston Bennett of IMAX for the panel discussion “IMAX Enhanced: Elevating Home Entertainment to Blockbuster Heights”, where attendees learned how IMAX’s visual and DTS’s sound technology combine to create transformative experiences for streamers as well as opportunities for device OEMs.

Data and Disney+

Xperi was part of two notable announcements at NAB Show 2024. The first was the DTS Broadcaster Portal press release which highlighted Q1 data around top genres and songs in the US and abroad. This included a use case example of the portal – which won acclaim at last year’s NAB in Las Vegas – where data was put into real context for broadcasters interested in learning how to monetize that information.

IMAX and Disney also announced that the immersive 3D surround sound of DTS:X would be available on Disney+ with IMAX Enhanced compatible devices. “Queen Rock Montreal” was announced as the first concert film available with IMAX Enhanced and immersive sound from DTS – its global streaming premiere on Disney+ is on May 15 along with IMAX Enhanced sound for 18 fan-favorite Marvel films.

The Winning Hand

The Xperi team was proud to leave Las Vegas with the NAB Innovation Award for in-vehicle gaming features of DTS AutoStage, as well as Radio World’s Best of Show 2024 award for the AIM Player app. But we were even more proud to sponsor the Broadcasting Hall of Fame awards, where Geir Skaaden, Chief Product and Services Officer, offered opening remarks for an event recognizing radio and television personalities as well as programs that have earned a place in broadcasting history. Geir saluted the inductees, saying “We appreciate your extraordinary contributions to an industry with a rich and important history and one ready to help drive the future of entertainment in the car.”

As evidenced by our showing at NAB Show 2024, Xperi is already primed to drive the future of in-car entertainment with DTS AutoStage and HD Radio. Learn more about Xperi’s product offerings at https://dts.com/connected-car/.
