A Closer Look: DTS AutoStage at NAB Show 2024

As recapped earlier this week, Xperi won acclaim for several innovative automotive entertainment technologies at NAB Show 2024. In today’s blog, we dive deep into the panel presentation “DTS AutoStage: Your Station, Your Content, Your Analytics” led by Joe D’Angelo, Xperi’s SVP of Global Radio and Digital Audio.

A Bridge Between Broadcasters and Automakers

Joe kicked off the presentation by explaining Xperi’s role in the automotive entertainment value chain. Broadcasters produce and curate content, which DTS AutoStage then aggregates and distributes to consumers on the infotainment systems designed by automakers.

The Clear Choice of the Auto Industry

Joe then highlighted the scale and momentum of DTS AutoStage. The platform has 12 automotive partners in production, including BMW, Hyundai, and Tesla, with another 6 in final development. Additionally, DTS AutoStage is in over 7 million cars on the road ranging from economy to ultra-luxury, with 80% of equipped cars selling for under $65,000.

DTS Broadcaster Portal: Leveraging Analytics to Tell Your Story

With broadcasters as the main audience of NAB, Joe shifted focus to the DTS Broadcaster Portal, a free and powerful analytics platform broadcasters can use to gather actionable audience insights from DTS AutoStage-equipped vehicles. Among several other capabilities, the DTS Broadcaster Portal enables radio stations to see what content resonates most with their listeners as well as when and where people are tuning into their content.

Joe then invited panelists Pierre Bouvard – Chief Insights Officer at Cumulus Media, Mike Hulvey – CEO of Neuhoff Communications, and Greg Strassell – EVP of Programming and Development at Hubbard Radio to discuss how the DTS Broadcaster Portal allows them to measure performance of their programming and take action to improve it. Examples included observing listening behavior after a format change as well as using geographic audience data as a proof point for selling ads to local retailers.

Finally, Joe showcased several new and upcoming features of the DTS Broadcaster Portal. For a specified time period and coverage area:
